Teacher Aide – ESOL and Maths Support (Permanent, 2027)

Iqra School, an Islamic state-integrated school in West Auckland serving Years 1–8 with growing senior provision (approximately 265 students), seeks a permanent Teacher Aide beginning in 2027. The role combines English as Second Language (ESOL) support and Mathematics assistance for students requiring additional help.

**About the Role**

As a Teacher Aide, you will work closely with classroom teachers to support English language learners and students needing maths instruction. Your primary focus will be helping ESOL students build confidence and proficiency in English—including reading, writing, speaking, and listening—while also assisting maths students in developing essential numeracy skills. You will work with individuals and small groups, adapting instructional strategies to meet each student's evolving needs.

**Key Responsibilities**

• Provide targeted English language support to ESOL students, focusing on vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skills
• Deliver maths support to students who need additional help, building their knowledge and confidence in numeracy
• Assist students in understanding and completing classroom assignments, with emphasis on language comprehension and mathematical reasoning
• Monitor and record student progress in both language and maths, adjusting support strategies as needed
• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to implement their guidance and instructional objectives

**What We're Looking For**

• Previous experience as a Teacher Aide, ESOL instructor, maths tutor, or similar educational support role (preferred)
• Strong understanding of English language learner needs and techniques for developing vocabulary and communication skills
• Experience supporting students in mathematics instruction
• Ability to work effectively with diverse learners and adapt teaching methods to individual needs
• Legal right to work in New Zealand (NZ residency or valid work visa required)
