The Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI), with a research and an educational mission, has been established at Qatar University to conduct high-quality survey research of current and future social and economic issues. SESRI is an initiative of Qatar University, in association with the Institute for Social Research (ISR ) at the University of Michigan. Duties & Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Research Full Professor will contribute to SESRI’s mission by leading high-quality research projects, particularly in survey research and applied social sciences. The role involves designing and implementing research studies, securing funding, publishing scholarly work, and engaging in policy-relevant research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement quantitative and/or mixed-methods research studies
Lead and provide technical expertise in the design, application, and evaluation of survey instruments, ensuring validity, reliability, precision, and cost-effectiveness
Publish high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals
Contribute to research reports, presentations, and dissemination outputs based on SESRI surveys
Mentor and support junior researchers and research staff
Actively participate in SESRI events (e.g., conferences, training workshops, public lectures)
Contribute to teaching activities, if required, in line with Qatar University policies
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education
PhD in Economics or a related Social Science (e.g., Political Science, Sociology, Public Policy)
Languages
Excellent proficiency in English (required)
Proficiency in Arabic (preferred)
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of post-PhD research experience
Strong background in quantitative and/or mixed-methods research
Experience in survey research, including field data collection and/or large dataset analysis
Proficiency in statistical software such as R, SAS, SPSS, or STATA
Proven track record of academic publications
Experience in securing or contributing to research funding
Preferred (Not Mandatory)
Experience conducting research in Qatar or the GCC region
Experience with experimental or quasi-experimental research methods
Experience working on policy-oriented or government-linked research
