Research Associate, Fixed-Term Appointment (3 years, renewable)

The Aga Khan University's Brain and Mind Institute is seeking a Research Associate for a three-year fixed-term appointment (renewable), based in either Pakistan or Kenya.

AKU is a private international university chartered in 1983 and part of the Aga Khan Development Network. The university operates 13 teaching sites across 6 countries, maintains 7 hospitals (with an 8th planned), and runs over 325 outreach clinics.

The Brain and Mind Institute builds capacity in mental health and neuroscience research, serving as a hub for scholarship and action on mental health issues in Africa and South Asia. Programs address stigma and resilience, develop behavioral sciences and mental health curricula for AKU's medical and nursing colleges, and translate research discoveries into evidence-based prevention and treatment programs in clinical and community settings.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Partner with Institute leadership and Principal Investigators on grant-writing efforts
• Design, implement, supervise, and evaluate research projects across the Institute and broader AKU network
• Conduct literature reviews focused on mental health economic topics
• Develop research instruments and methodologies
• Perform quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, including fieldwork as required
• Prepare and present periodic project progress reports
• Support dissemination and publication of research findings

**Requirements:**

• Master's degree or research-intensive PhD in a relevant field
• Demonstrated experience in research design and implementation
• Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, preferably with experience in low- and middle-income countries
• Competency with data presentation software
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to collaborate across geographies
