The Arab-American Family Support Center (AAFSC) is recruiting mental health clinicians to provide trauma-informed counseling and therapy to immigrant and refugee families across eight locations throughout New York City. The organization has a particular focus on serving Arab, Muslim, Middle Eastern, and South Asian (AMEMSA) communities navigating acculturation stress, family disruption, domestic violence, and other complex challenges.
In this role, you will maintain an active client caseload, conduct trauma assessments, and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions. You will document case notes in compliance with licensing and organizational standards, serve as a community partner and organizational ambassador, participate in agency meetings and offsite events, and contribute to grant applications and communications initiatives.
You must hold active licensure or license-eligibility as an LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, LMSW, or equivalent credential in a related mental health field. You should demonstrate strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice principles including emotional intelligence, understanding of how trauma affects development, strengths-based and person-centered approaches, and resilience-focused care. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is a genuine commitment to working with immigrant, refugee, and low-income communities. U.S. work authorization is required.
Preferred qualifications include background in evidence-based practice, experience with Functional Family Therapy assessment tools, and bilingual fluency in Arabic or Bangla/Bengali.
