Job Description
Roots Academy is a registered UK charity dedicated to foundational Islamic education for young Muslims. This is a volunteer (unpaid) remote graphic design position open to UK-based applicants, with active recruitment ongoing through 31 October 2026.
Role Overview
You will produce visual content across social media, email, web, presentations, and print materials, ensuring all work reflects Roots Academy's brand guidelines and Islamic values.
Key Responsibilities
- Create compelling visuals by collaborating with the social media and education teams to translate their ideas and scripts into visual designs
- Develop reusable, easy-to-edit templates in Canva, Google Slides, or similar tools for internal team use
- Stay current with design trends in faith-based and youth-focused content spaces
- Maintain well-organized design files and asset libraries
- Deliver all work on schedule
Requirements
- Strong design portfolio demonstrating creativity, clarity, and brand alignment
- Proficiency with design software: Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma, or equivalent
- Strong grasp of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy
- Ability to take creative direction while also contributing your own ideas
- Understanding of Islamic values and visual modesty principles in design
- Demonstrated experience designing for Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok
- No specific education level or years of experience mandated
