Job Description

Islamic Community Center of Illinois (ICCI) is hiring a full-time, English-speaking resident imam to serve as the primary religious leader and community builder for its diverse Muslim congregation in Chicago.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all five daily congregational prayers and Friday Jumu'ah prayer
  • Conduct special services including Eid prayers and Taraweeh
  • Deliver engaging Friday khutbahs (sermons) and regular community lectures
  • Provide Islamic guidance, pastoral counseling, and spiritual support to individuals and families
  • Develop and teach Islamic education classes for youth and adults
  • Design community programming to strengthen religious knowledge and social cohesion
  • Mentor youth and young professionals
  • Represent the center in outreach initiatives and interfaith dialogue
  • Collaborate closely with ICCI leadership, staff, and volunteers

Required Qualifications

  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Degree or recognized certification in Islamic Studies or related field
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deliver compelling khutbahs and lectures
  • Ability to work effectively with youth, families, and diverse community members
  • Must reside in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as an imam, Islamic teacher, or community leader

This is an on-site position at 6435 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
