
Position Purpose:
ILIA is seeking a highly skilled and student-oriented Cybersecurity Technical Instructor to lead two intensive training cohorts for Baltimore City young adults (ages 18–28). The instructor will be responsible for delivering high-level technical instruction aimed at helping students earn advanced CompTIA certifications (Security+, CySA+, or PenTest+).
This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise and the ability to mentor young professionals as they transition into high-wage roles such as Cybersecurity Analysts and Security Operations Center (SOC) Analysts.
Role Qualifications:
Required
Certifications: Must hold at least one (preferably all) of the following: CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or PenTest+
Experience: Proven experience in the Cybersecurity or Information Technology field (Network Security, Risk & Compliance, or SOC operations).
Instructional Skill: Ability to break down complex cryptographic and architectural concepts for a young adult audience.
Location: Ability to commute to the Baltimore City training site for all session dates.
Responsibilities:
Technical Instruction: Deliver 8 hours of daily in-person instruction covering security architecture, threat detection, risk analysis, incident response, and vulnerability assessment.
Lab Facilitation: Guide students through hands-on lab simulations and ethical hacking exercises to ensure "real-world" readiness.
Certification Prep: Prepare students for CompTIA Security+, CySA+, and PenTest+ exams through structured reviews and practice assessments.
Professional Mentorship: Integrate career readiness into technical training, including mock interviews, professional communication, and alignment with employer expectations.
Curriculum Management: Utilize the 2-hour daily preparation window to tailor labs and instructional materials to the specific needs of the cohort.
