Associate Product and Community Manager (part-time contract, remote), Ummah Media Group
Job Description
Pay: $330 per month, about 5 to 8 hours a week.
About Ummah Media Group
Ummah Media Group began with UmmahJobs and MuslimTorrents. Later we built the Muslim Ad Network. Today we run websites and apps for the Muslim community. Our sites include UmmahPlaces, UmmahCauses and ummah.army. Our aim is to help the Ummah.
The role
We need one person to keep our sites tidy, kind and well run. You report to Tab, our CEO.
What you will do
Read bug reports and feedback from our sites. Reply, or pass each one to the right person, within 48 hours.
Answer our members and community in a kind, plain voice.
Write a short release note when we change a site.
Keep a weekly table of simple site numbers. You get read-only access.
Write a short evidence summary when someone asks to claim a listing. Tab decides each claim.
Write and publish content for our sites and social accounts. Every post goes through our review process first.
What you will not do
Deploy code.
Handle money, payments or payouts.
Change domains or DNS.
Send messages to clients.
Hold passwords or keys.
Change sites that our web developer owns.
Decide who gets a claim.
What we need
Clear written English.
Past work with a queue, a help desk, a community or a product list. Volunteer work counts.
You send written updates on time.
You say only what is true. You never invent reviews, ratings or quotes.
You can join one short weekly call. Our calls start at 9:30 am Pacific time, Tuesday to Thursday. If that does not suit you, send a written update.
Helpful: Arabic, basic spreadsheet skills, some knowledge of how websites work.
How we work
You work from home, mostly in writing.
Pay is $330 per month, about 5 to 8 hours a week. We pay on the same day each month, by bank transfer or Wise.
The first 90 days are a trial. The first two weeks are a paid first milestone. We pay for them in full.
This is a paid contract, not employment. You work as an independent contractor with your own equipment. A written agreement covers scope, ownership of your work and confidentiality.
How to apply
Apply on this page. Add a short cover note of about 150 words. Name one of our sites you would improve first. Say what you would change and why.
If we shortlist you, we send a short unpaid task of about 60 minutes. You sort 10 sample feedback items. The items are made up. They are not real records.
Tab, our CEO, speaks with the final candidates and decides.
